Solar Industrial Applications
NEST’s Chairman & MD, Mr. DT Barki believes that research and development on the basic material required for solar industry, Silicon (Si) can considerably bring down the costs of solar products in the vertical value chain, starting from Metallurgical Grade Si (MG-Si) to Solar Grade Silicon (SoG-Si) to Wafers to Solar Cells and eventually PV modules and PV systems, small (few kW) or large (several MW).
NEST’s Quartz has been tested by several top international laboratories like Sintef, Norway, Dow Corning, Brazil, and ELKEM AS, Norway etc.
NEST is involved in High Purity Quartz research and has become one of the leading suppliers of High Purity Quartz to companies like M. Setek, Japan and Becancour Silicon Inc. (SILBEC), Canada. Besides NEST has signed purchase contracts with GE and has long-term plans to supply High Purity Quartz to Mitsubishi Corpn. (Materials), Japan, Calisolar Inc. (Canada), Sanrun Import-Export Company, China.

Applications of the material include Solar Grade Silicon (SoG-Si) manufacturing, Quartz Crucibles for ingot growth and non-solar industries like glass manufacturers like Saint Gobain, France.
