NEST is a global organization, serving markets in Africa, Latin America and other developing nations besides catering to markets in developed nations such as North Americas, Europe, Japan etc.
NEST has diversified business activities in supply of High Purity Quartz (SiO2) for applications catering to the burgeoning needs of the solar industry. NEST has also done intensive and disruptive research by developing an energy-efficient and cost-effective Solar Grade Silicon (SoG-Si) manufacturing process as an alternate recommendation to the existing Siemens process which is high on requirement for both capital and energy.
NEST has a capacity of 60 MW, with ambitious plans to enhance it further to meet the growing market needs. With increasing demand for solar energy, NEST with an established brand, is well placed to be one of the fastest growing solar companies in the world.
NEST is a team of dynamic and enterprising individuals, led by the founder Chairman & Managing Director, Mr. DT Barki.
DT Barki, Chairman & Managing Director
D.T. BARKI, 53, has been in solar photovoltaic industry for nearly three decades. A B.Tech graduate in Electronics Engineering (1982), from KREC (now NITK), Surathkal, India, he has acquired international reputation with solar PV technologies, through the successful implementation of solar projects (cells, modules and systems). He has toured all over the world (U.S.A, Japan, Germany, Austria, United Kingdom), to attend International & world conferences, workshops and business meets. He applies his scientific, technical and management expertise to all aspects of the challenge to implement sustainable energy services, especially, solar PV globally for the benefit of people and the planet. He has extensive knowledge in setting up of solar cell manufacturing and running them successfully. Mr.Barki has several shop floor contributions in inventing many defect analysis methods in the solar cell and module processing.
At present, he runs his solar business in his own company, Noble Energy Solar Technologies Ltd (NEST), since 2001, at Hyderabad, India. NEST was started in 1998 with product launch in 2001, which manufactures affordable solar modules and lanterns of international standard for the benefit of the really needy people of the developing countries. NEST, under the stewardship of Mr.Barki is the market leader in manufacturing and marketing solar lanterns, esp., AISHWARYA® solar mini lantern brand in India and overseas. Now, NEST runs as an independent organization in promoting solar lighting systems.
Mr.Barki has been conferred with the prestigious Ashden Light Award in 2005 by the Ashden Awards for Sustainable Energy, London. The award was given away by HRH Prince Charles on 30th June 2005 in London. Mr.Barki wins the Award for Light (£30,000) for developing a small solar lantern, Aishwarya™, which makes safe, smoke-free light affordable for the poorest people. His ultimate mission, through solar technology, is to make the world kerosene-free, in case of lighting application.
Mr.Barki, besides being a successful solar PV specialist, is a versatile writer in Kannada and English. He has written and published many poetry collections and plays. His management book, THE DRIVE, under the series of MANDEM technique, has been a top ten best seller in Hyderabad. He is known for his inspiring speeches on social entrepreneurship, esp., for the youth. He has been working on a sensational screenplay on the global borders issue and presenting the same as an Oscar-standard film to ultimately give a message to the world towards making the warless world and borderless earth!
His technological and social skills are to bring light to life; because he believes that life is light; light is life. Mr.Barki completed 29 years of service (since 1982) in solar PV industry. He is working on to launch a worldwide campaign “towards creating awareness for Eliminating Light Poverty in the world”
Bharat Barki has been in the Solar Industry for the over 4 years, gaining vast industry knowledge and skills such as communication, technical and managerial, all this within a short span. He has presented a technical poster presentation at the 33rd IEEE photovoltaic specialists’ conference, San Diego, CA, USA. He has also participated in the prestigious Civil Society/ Governing Ministerial Environment (GME) Forum, held at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) headquarters in Nairobi. He currently serves as a Director, on the Board of Noble Energy Solar Techologies Ltd (NEST).

Infrastructure: Unique Manufacturing Facility
In NEST, we do things differently. Our solar manufacturing facilities in Hyderabad and Bangalore are the manifestation of our mission and vision. Our solar module and system assembly facilities are characterized by efficient, effective and most economical infrastructure. This is one of the reasons why our solar products are of highest quality with lowest cost.
Our state-of-the-art SPV module manufacturing facility is situated at Bangalore. A 60 MW SPV module manufacturing facility is being planned in Jeedimetla, Hyderabad.
The Solar Systems assembly line is situated in Begumpet Hyderabad, A.P., India.
Never before has there been so much emphasis on continuous technology innovation. Technologies realize their market potential, only to be replaced by another one in a short period of time. Solar energy sector is the fastest expanding space owing to the innovations that are taking place in the field of semi-conductor materials and nano-technology; in solid state lighting devices like LEDs etc. All these innovations are assisting the cause of mitigating climate change, conserving resources and energy, thereby making them more energy efficient and environment friendly
NEST is currently also working on more innovative solar lighting products making them more energy-efficient and cost-effective for the rural market.
